Why Web Launcher
Existing webpages. A focused Android display.
Web Launcher is an Android webpage display app for teams that already have content online. Put a selected page or ordered URL playlist on a tablet, reception screen, shop display, or information screen without first building a separate signage CMS.
The current source build rotates webpages. Images or videos embedded in a webpage may depend on that site’s behavior and Android WebView, but standalone image and video playlist items are not available in this build. Version 1.4.1 is awaiting Google Play review, so the existing listing may still contain an earlier release.
How it works
From a webpage to a display loop in three steps
Use content your team already maintains. Configure the playlist on the device; a dedicated signage CMS is not required for a simple web-page display.

Add your webpages
Enter an HTTP or HTTPS address for each page you want to show. Give it a recognizable name and preview it before saving.

Set the order and duration
Reorder pages, enable or pause individual items, and choose how long each page remains visible. The starting duration is 30 seconds per item.

Save and show
Choose system, portrait, or landscape orientation, then save and play. The next webpage is prepared in a second WebView while the current page remains visible.

What the app does
Built for a screen that has one clear job
Web Launcher focuses on showing webpages reliably on a dedicated Android device rather than adding another content-management system.
Timed multi-page playlists
Rotate through enabled URLs in order, with a duration set for each item instead of one fixed timer for every page.
Prepared transitions
Two WebView slots let the next page prepare while the current one remains on screen. A page that is not ready does not replace a usable current page.
Portrait or landscape
Follow the device orientation or lock playback to portrait or landscape. The webpage itself still needs a responsive layout.
On-device editing
Add, edit, preview, reorder, enable, or remove pages in the settings screen. Save the complete draft when it is ready.
Protected settings access
A deliberate tap gesture opens settings, with an optional password for the configuration path. Device-level kiosk restrictions need separate Android setup.

Native image and video files are not playlist item types in the current source build.

Before deployment
Plan around the real Android environment
Device policy, network conditions, and webpage behavior all affect a dedicated display installation.
Android 5.0 or later
The app targets Android devices from API 21, but older devices and OEM-specific kiosk behavior need hands-on validation.
Trusted web destinations
Use HTTP(S) URLs you trust. Authentication and cookies are shared across WebViews in the app; separate per-page accounts are not isolated.
Screen orientation
The app can follow the system or lock portrait/landscape playback. The site still needs to fit that viewport.
Dedicated-device controls
Screen pinning and Device Owner/Lock Task are distinct Android setup paths. Choose and validate the one appropriate for the device.
FAQ
Web Launcher, without the guesswork
What the current build can play, how webpage rotation works, and where the pending Google Play update stands.
Can I add image or video files directly to the playlist?
Not in the current source build. Playlist items are HTTP or HTTPS webpages. A webpage may contain images or video, but playback depends on that site and Android WebView. Native image and video playlist items should not be assumed available in the 1.4.1 update.
Do I need a separate digital-signage CMS?
No. For a simple display, add the addresses of webpages your team already maintains directly in Web Launcher. The app manages the on-device order and duration; it does not provide remote content management or cloud playlist deployment.
Will the same page work in portrait and landscape?
Web Launcher can follow the system orientation or lock playback to portrait or landscape. The webpage must also be responsive for the target viewport. Preview each page on the actual display before leaving it unattended.
What happens when the next webpage is slow or unavailable?
The next page is prepared while the current page remains visible. If the next page is not ready, Web Launcher keeps a usable current page on screen and retries a failed item later. Third-party websites can still show their own asynchronous loading states, so test important pages on the target device.
Is the 1.4.1 update already available on Google Play?
The 1.4.1 update is awaiting Google Play review. An existing Web Launcher listing may show an earlier public build. This page does not present the reviewed update as downloadable until its availability is confirmed.
