First setup

Establish pointer movement before enabling any channel-specific window workflow.

    Open CursorHop and confirm display numbers

    Compare Screen 1-N with the macOS arrangement. Recheck after docking, reconnecting, or changing DisplayLink hardware.

  2. 02

    Jump by number or direction

    Use the configured cursor modifier with a screen number, or follow the physical display direction.

  3. 03

    Confirm the destination

    Use the default Control + Command + Return Find Cursor pulse or Control + Command + Space Screen Overlay when orientation is unclear.

  4. 04

    Activate an app with App Finder

    Hold the App Finder modifier and press an initial. Chinese app names can use pinyin initials; repeat or use arrows for same-letter candidates.

  5. 05

    Add window control for the chosen channel

    Direct users grant Accessibility only when needed. App Store users follow the Native Window Shortcuts setup guide in the app.

App Finder activates a running app by its initial, cycles same-letter candidates, remembers the last choice, and can restore minimized apps.

Cycle candidates when several running apps share the same initial.

Chinese application names can participate through their pinyin initial.

Troubleshooting

Common multi-display problems

Most issues come from changed display numbering, shortcut ownership, missing channel setup, or an app window that does not support the requested layout.

  1. 01

    The pointer goes to the wrong screen

    Open the display map again. macOS may change screen numbering after reconnecting a monitor, docking, or changing a DisplayLink topology.

  2. 02

    A shortcut does nothing

    Check whether macOS or another utility owns the same combination, then choose a different modifier layer in CursorHop Settings.

  3. 03

    App Finder selects the wrong app

    Repeat the initial or use arrow keys to cycle candidates. CursorHop remembers the most recently selected candidate for that initial.

  4. 04

    A minimized app does not appear

    Try the App Finder command again and verify the app is still running. The normal workflow restores minimized candidates.

  5. 05

    Direct window movement is unavailable

    Pointer jumps continue without Accessibility. Grant Accessibility only if active-window move or focus commands are needed, then relaunch if macOS requests it.

  6. 06

    App Store window movement is unavailable

    The App Store build does not request Accessibility. Complete the Native Window Shortcuts guide and verify the configured macOS menu command names.

  7. 07

    A window cannot use the requested layout

    Some utility panels and app-specific windows do not support half-screen, maximize, or cross-display placement. CursorHop falls back without reading or uploading window content.

  8. 08

    The pointer misses the text field

    Active Window Focus prefers a visible focused input. If none is available, CursorHop places the pointer at the active window center.

Everyday settings

Settings and everyday behavior

These settings help CursorHop stay predictable as the desktop, language, and startup workflow change.

Launch at Login

Enable startup only if CursorHop should be ready after every sign-in. Disable it when using the app only with a docked desk setup.

Language switching

Change the available app language in Settings. Shortcut behavior and display limits do not change with the interface language.

DisplayLink layouts

CursorHop works with displays macOS recognizes. Reconfirm numbering when a DisplayLink dock or adapter changes the reported arrangement.

Channel-specific setup

Direct and App Store builds reach similar user goals through different permission models. Follow only the instructions for the installed channel.

CursorHop support essentials

What is the difference between CursorHop Free and Pro?

Free includes every feature available in the selected installation channel and manages up to two displays. Pro has the same features and manages up to eight displays. Pro starts with a one-month free trial and then costs $4.99 per year.

Are App Store and Direct separate CursorHop products?

No. They are two ways to install one product. Each channel has one CursorHop.app, and Free or Pro is the plan inside that app. The App Store channel is sandboxed and uses Native Window Shortcuts; Direct can request Accessibility for active-window controls.

Does CursorHop require Accessibility permission?

Pointer jumps do not require Accessibility. The App Store channel does not request it. The Direct channel asks only when active-window movement or focus features need it, and CursorHop does not upload window content.

Can I change the CursorHop keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. Modifier layers are configurable in Settings. Current defaults include Control + Command for cursor actions and Control + Option + Command for App Finder, but changing them is recommended when macOS or another app already uses a combination.

How does App Finder choose between apps with the same initial?

Repeat the initial or use the arrow keys to cycle matching candidates. CursorHop remembers the last selected candidate for an initial, supports pinyin initials for Chinese app names, and can restore minimized running apps.

Which Macs can run CursorHop?

CursorHop supports macOS 14 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. It works with displays recognized by macOS, including common DisplayLink setups, but it does not install display drivers or create virtual displays.
